8.50 am, made it home safely despite bad driving conditions last night.
The group of us ended up in the island of Tioman. As always, the trip ended before we were ready to go home. It was all good though. We managed to squeeze in snorkeling at 2 different places and took a nice little dip in a tiny waterfall, if you could call it that. Think it is safe to say that out guests from Japan and Korea were impressed. The place was so pretty!
I have a confession to make.
Every time I get on a boat, I’m utterly and completely content. Yesterday I found myself comparing the boat ride to having multiple orgasms. A funny thought, I know. Surely nothing could feel better than the boat ride? I mean, I was so happy and content. If this was all my life surmounts to (haha… a beach bum) that would be alright too. A little bit of adventure, a little bit of sun, a little bit of romance…what else could a person possibly want?
This brings me to the topic of Funny. She is a Japanese lady ( yes, this is her real name) , who lived in Hong Kong for 11 years before moving to Tioman and living there for the past 4 years if memory serves me right.
She was our snorkeling guide.
See, Funny used to be a journalist but decided she wanted to live life on the beach. Diving has that effect on some people. Once you’re hooked, it is all you ever want to do. On a previous diving trip to East Malaysia, our dive guide used to be a banker!
Haha…so then…an observation.
Ditching life as we know it for life on the beach could be compared to a person signing off from the rat race and living in a cave.
Except that this cave is filled with happy tourists, swimming in the ocean everyday and lots of people wearing nothing but trunks and bikinis. Need I say more?
There was one little damper to our boat ride though.
On the way home, the boat could not dock because of the tide. We had to idle for about 15 minutes off the shore. So there were a few people, I assume were locals of Mersing, at the back of the boat commenting about how quickly the water was receeding. All I could think of was…
Oh my god…TSUNAMI!!!!!
P.S – Funny’s family does not know about this life she has chosen.
