Arrived in the town of Amritsar, Punjab early yesterday morning. You wouldn't believe this but I had to wake up at 3.30 am to catch the first bus. It was scary. Anyways leaving Amritsar was the first time I have been alone since arriving in India. Met some people on the bus and we ended up sharing a room and touring Amritsar together. It was great while it lasted! One thing about travelling, yes you do meet lotsa people but often for too short a time. Today, we are all headed our seperate ways again. The people I met yesterday were from Germany, Norway, Chicago, Seattle and Switzerland.
Was thinking of staying here in Amritsar another night but it was just too depressing to see everyone leave. Anyways, I'm headed back to Delhi to do the places east of there. To tell the truth, I'm almost ready to leave India. While at times it can be fun and nice, it is also very tiring just moving from one place to the next. Long distance here does not mean 12 hours! The bus we came in on yesterday took 6 hours and the train ride to Delhi tonight will take about 5 hours because I paid lotsa money for it! Otherwise, it was gona be 12 hours again! The train ticket resevation here is also crazy! We waited for about an hour and a half which really wasn't bad apparently. The one thing I'm looking forward to tonight is taking the train here for the first time. Although...there was a train crash just today southwest from here in Gujarat. If I remember correctly, 22 people died.
Yeech...back to Delhi tonight and tomorrow morning again will have to hop on a train/bus for another 10 hours! Tired, tired. I should really say more about how nice Amritsar is but...just too tired.
