Anger Management

For the first time at work today, we had an incident.

Kay got a really bad customer come up to her till. This man in his late 30s/ early 40s was pissing mad for something really small. It was uncalled for. Apparently Kay gave him attitude when explaining that he should have presented his coupon before letting her ring in the transaction. Kay can be...a bit rough around the edges when it comes to being diplomatic, so I have little doubt that she was perhaps a bit abrupt with this guy.

In my opinion though, there was really no need for him to get THAT upset. He kept yelling at Kay and tried to grab the money and tix from inside the booth. It was a bit scary. He said that she should not be working there if she did not want to and that he was on vacation and was spending his money, not hers. He was REALLY angry. At this point, his wife was utterly embarrassed and asked the supervisor to ignore her husband but speak to her instead. He almost had no control over his reaction anymore. Talk about a type A personality.

Despite Kay crying and being disturbed for the rest of the day, the person I felt most sorry for was the wife. To think that she has to deal with this man's issues for the rest of her life. Or until they get a divorce, anyways.
