Day 2 at School

The low down on school is that - it's really okay.

Getting more of a feel to the class structure. We basically have lecture/discussions everyday. A lot of it is discussion. Remember how I said everyone in the class seemed to have had some life issues? I was right. Since my first course is on substance abuse, we got to hear stories all day in class. Right now the focus is on learning about the different types of drugs. Which is really interesting. Who would have known that cough syrup was so useful! And frozen cough syrup...yummm....instant high.

Kids, don't try this at home.

The thing about all this information is that it has gotten me so curious about what it's really like. Wish I had my own stories to tell about living in the dumps shooting up so often tracks were showing on my arms. Hmm, no. Wouldn't want that, but you know what I mean though? All this would mean so much more had I known what it's really like. It wouldn't be too difficult too. I know people who know people who could set me up. But I'm too afraid of the consequences. What do you expect? Coming from a country where people still get hung for posession.

Btw, did you know that people would rub a certain kinda drug (I forget which...maybe Heroine?) on pleasure centres (gawd, I'm such a fuckin prude) before having sex? It supposedly heightens your senses.

More random info I found interesting.

- At road blocks, the reason they pass a finger in front of your eyes is to see if your eye movements are normal. Erratic movemets is a tell tale sign of intoxication. The light they shine in your eyes, apparently alcohol will dilate your pupils. Under normal circumstances, your pupils should constrict when light shines on them.

- The more I live here, the more evident it is that western society depends too heavily on drugs. The legal and illegal type. Everyone in my class is currently on some form of medication. Even in my circle of friends, people are on anti-depressants. It's simply unbelievable. Bet if I went to the doctors with some complaints about feeling down, he/she will prescribe some form of med. Actually, I should try it sometime as an experiment.

- Crystal Meth (also known as ice) has over taken the other more conventional drugs as the craziest one out there. The high produced can last for 8 - 30 hours?? But long term use has been shown to make a 24 year old look like an 80 year old. And then she dies. Go figure.

Of all the ones we learned about today, if I could pick one to try it would be Morphine. The feeling of relaxation and dream state described is rather appealing. Then again, any Halucinogens would be good too. I wanna see rainbows and colourful little people walking around. Kinda like the commercial where all the salad dressings come to life...uhh...nevermind.

I need to write a paper before the end of the course. Am wondering if dad would be my subject. It would be awkward to speak with him about all this but it would be an excellent excuse for a father-daughter bonding session. I'm sure he can tell me so much. So excited about the paper now.

Anyways, I had better call this friend of mine. Her bf called earlier, I think they're having issues...AGAIN.
