In the hour past midnight

Quarter past 1 a.m. Hello. What are you doing up?

Who, me? Oh nothing much. Just trying to tire myself enough to fall asleep. Besides, the stupid clock is ticking so loudly that it's almost impossible to sleep. *yawn*

So what's on your mind?

Ahh. As always, at this hour, there can only be the pondering of life and its meaning. *yawn* Why do you think it's so difficult to control one's mind? Instead of being the toughest thing to do, the art of sitting still and not thinking a.k.a meditation should be the easiest and most natural. After all, did human beings not begin their rule of the earth this way? Back in the ice ages when we shared (questionable) the land with mammoths, I am sure the human mind was not as complicated as it is today. *yawn*

The fact that you're thinking all this is a testament to it. Have you nothing better to do than sitting here asking yourself questions that do not have answers? What of your -don't worry until the time comes- philosophy?

It is not easy to keep reminding myself of that all day. Sometimes it gets swept under the couch until it is time to do house cleaning again. No worries, though. Was it not Ellis who said that if you constantly think you're happy and remind yourself of it day in and day out, one day you will become happy. Practise breeds perfection?

Hmm...Ellis or James? Darn! We should have paid more attention in class.
