In wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better spirits today. Things are going great and I'm enjoying myself :) There are so many hippy-like foreigners here in Dharamsala that it's funny. So then I was having lunch this afternoon and a monk walked by. At first I thought this was a friend of this other monk --- my friend/ guide here. He was looking at me so I smiled. Then he came by and I realize he didn't speak English. He can't possibly the friend of my friend. He takes out a piece of paper explaining that he wanted money for somesort of a Tibetan cause, which I'm sure is not legit. He made gestures with his fingers saying that he had walked from Nepal and he did not have any money. Even tried selling me beads from his pocket. At this point I was trying to be nice but eventually ended up offering him a mango instead. He ate it right away! Perhaps he was really hungry and had really walked from Nepal to here not too long ago. I don't know anymore, it's tough when everyone is trying to get at your money any way they can.
Ohhh...also today I got to meet the vice-president of Parliament for the Tibetan Government in exile. Got to go into the meeting room where parliamentary meetings take place! Got to see the very chair that the Dalai Lama sits in! And got one of the officials to personally give me an explanation of how the Tibetan parliament works!! Now THAT was something else. He even said to write or call him anytime if I ever wanted more information.
Anyways, am off to fill my bottles with water from an environmentally friendly store. hehe...better watch it or else I'd turn into one of those hippies too! With the awful hair, many layers of colourful clothes and all.
