An Excellent Day, Excellent...

Well today I started my very first "job" here in Van. My assignment was to edit Jess's graduate thesis. At this point you must be thinking - Yikes!! That's like the blind leading the blind. If you were indeed thinking that...how could you! :P I'm hurt...

Anyways, today was an excellent day because of 4 things.

1) Someone in my family (we have never really gotten along well until recently) called earlier today when an incident made her really upset. She called me for comfort and that was something that has never happened before.

2) Jess(my new roommate) and I went out to watch the fireworks at English Bay, and it was awesome! The whole thing lasted about 30 minutes and was indeed one of the most grand displays I have ever seen. More important than the fireworks was the fact that we talked practically the entire way there and back. She is smart, funny, active and loves travelling.

3)Nic moved back to Van and sent me messages today. I now know a total of 2 people here! Yay!

4)Went out today with more makeup than I'm used to (none) and it was not all that awful. Still at times I kept worrying about something or another smudging. Ahh...the beauty of being a girl. Some guy on the bus kept glancing at my gaping collar the entire ride. Call me whatever you want, but I can't deny the fact that it felt good being looked at.

In a world where people often get caught up in their busy lives, I urge you to take a minute and slow down the pace. Give yourself the benefit of a doubt, a pat on the back for every little fear that you overcome. After all, we are comrades fighting on the same side. We are all trying to do what's best for ourselves in this crazy and sometimes cruel world. The least we can do is not judge one another.
